Civil Process Servers


2021 - 2022

New applicants and current Certified Process Servers who wish to renew their certification for 2021-2022 shall turn in all required documentation and fees to the Leon County Courthouse, Office of Court Administration, Room 225, on or before February 26, 2021.

Please note, the Chief Judge of the Second Judicial Circuit and the Process Server Review Board are in the process of determining the best way to administer the seminar and written examination to those required to take the exam during these unprecedented times. Our office will be in contact with you once a decision has been made.

Admin Order 2015-06 in re: Certification and Regulation of Civil Process Servers outlines the policies and procedures for the certification and regulation of civil process servers in the Second Judicial Circuit.

Following are the requirements for placement on the approved list of Certified Civil Process Servers for the Second Judicial Circuit:

  1. A completed application.
  2. A surety bond of $5,000. (Minimum)
  3. Sheriff's advisory letters from each of the six (6) county Sheriffs (included in the application).
  4. Submit to a background investigation, at the applicant's expense, which shall include any criminal record of the applicant as evidenced by a certified copy of such fingerprint based criminal record from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement - State of Florida background search.
  5. Carefully review the above Admin Order 2015-06 which will inform you of the fees associated with the program and also the information as it relates to the seminar and exam.

Typically the deadline for the application process is towards the end of February each year and the seminar and exam is the first Thursday of the month of March. However, these dates are subject to change. The website will be updated in January 2021 to reflect the dates. Thank you!
