Judicial Biography

Circuit Judge Jeremiah M. Hawkes was appointed to the circuit bench by Governor Ron DeSantis on November 15, 2025, to fill a newly created 17th position to the Second Judicial Court.

Judge Hawkes has now served all branches of the state of Florida. After starting his career as an assistant state attorney for the Second Judicial Circuit, he was the General Counsel for Speaker Marco Rubio in the Florida House. For nine years, Judge Hawkes supported Sheriff Chris Nocco and the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office in a civilian role as General Counsel and Bureau Chief. Judge Hawkes returned to Tallahassee as general counsel for the Florida Senate in 2018 for Senate Presidents Galvano and Simpson. Most recently, Judge Hawkes represented motor vehicle dealerships at Bass Sox Mercer. This experience developed an appreciation for the work involved in private practice as well as the stakes facing clients.

Both Jeremiah and his brother Joshua Hawkes are serving as judges on the Second Judicial Circuit. Judge Jeremiah Hawkes loves his wife, Holly, and their three children.

He is a double Seminole, getting both his undergraduate degree and law degree from Florida State University.
